What is the World CP Challenge?

The World CP Challenge is a readymade staff engagement activity which will improve the health and wellness of your employees, increase morale and have a positive impact on the lives of people with cerebral palsy. In teams of four, your employees track their daily step count by wearing a pedometer, and record their results on the interactive World CP Challenge website. Each day participants enter their steps, and watch as their team progress up a virtual mountain. The aim for each team is to reach the summit by the end of the four weeks. There are three different levels to choose from, depending on the fitness level of the team (and how ambitious they are). World CP Challenge is not just about walking your way to better health – participants can run, cycle, swim or even play lawn bowls to reach their daily step target. There are over forty activities to choose from including activities suitable for people with a disability. Teams are encouraged to fundraise throughout the event using an online fundraising mechanism. This will make a huge difference to the lives of people with cerebral palsy.

80% of all proceeds go to benefits United Cerebral Palsy of Arkansas' programs and services.

What are the benefits?

A healthy workforce has a positive impact on the overall performance of an organization. Employers told us at the completion of last year’s event that they saw increased team work and morale, strengthened interdepartmental communication and reduced sick days.

Feedback from last year’s participants told us:

 80% experienced increased physical activity

 33% lost weight

 86% had increased energy levels

20% were able to handle stress better & had improved sleep patterns

80% chose to make a difference by fundraising

97% of participants said they would participate again.

Participants will receive regular motivational communications, complete with health and wellness tips and messages to increase engagement.

Integrated leader boards allow staff to see how they are tracking against other teams within your organization and promote friendly competition between departments or different sites.

United Cerebral Palsy can also work with you and your internal communications staff to design a communications plan to maximise the benefits for your employees.

What is my investment?

$25 per person or $100 per team of four. An invoice option is available for organizations that pay for staff participation along with administration rights so the organisation can follow the progress of teams.

Each participant receives a kit with two pedometers, welcome letter and a booklet of fundraising tips.

The Challenge kicks off on September 4th (World CP Day) and finishes on October 4th 2012. In order to receive kits on time, registration must be finalized by August 26th 2012.

How does the Challenge work?

Here are the steps:

1. Contact the World CP Challenge team to register your organization

2. You will then be sent a code which can link your organisation teams in around the world!

3. Post the video on your intranet and promote the Challenge to staff any way you like!

4. Wait for the arrival of your kits and get Stepping! Any further questions or to sign up please contact: Tiffany Kidd at 228-3838 or tmkidd@ucpcark.org
